2002 keyless remote issues

ok here goes

i have a 2002 LS that sat for a year and a half to two years the battery did go dead. the car was given to me with one key and one remote. the remote is transmitting i have tested it, but for piece of mind i purchased two brand new remotes from a dealer.
i try to program them and go in to the settings on the radio, there is NO fob program feature in the radio.

what direction do i need to go as far as programming these.
i have an autel scanner that has the features for fob programming, but its like the car doesnt have the rke feature.
thanks in advance for any guidance

Here are a couple of ways to programs Fobs in your 2002 impala.

This method may work if you do not have a Tech2
    • 1 Enter your vehicle on the drivers' side and insert your key into the ignition switch. Switch your key to the "On" position, but refrain from cranking the engine.
    • 2 Push in the "DISP" button on your car radio and hold it for five seconds until you see the settings menu.
    • 3 Hit the "Up" or "Down" arrow buttons on the radio until you find the "FOB PROG" option. Push the "DISP" button again and you will see the "PUSH FOB" command appear on-screen. Immediately push the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously and hold for 15 seconds or until you hear the car chime. Continue repeating steps 2 and 3 for any other programmable options on your vehicle.
    • 4 Exit the programming mode by pushing the "Up" or "Down" arrows key on the radio until you find the "Exit" command. Hit the "DISP" on the radio to leave the programming mode. You will hear a chime verifying exit.
Use this one if you have access to a Tech2

Remote Control Door Lock Transmitter Programming
Important: All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.
1. Install a scan tool.
2. Use the scan tool in order to access programming: Vehicle Control System/Computer Integrating System/Module Setup/BCM/Program Key Fobs.
3. Press the START soft key on the scan tool.

Important: The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.
4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 510 seconds, the scan tool will indicate that the transmitter is programmed.
5. Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
6. Remove the scan tool.
7. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

it seems i cant access anything through the scan too either..

could this be because the car sat for 2 years with a dead battery??

If the "fog prog" option does not show up on the radio setup and the scan tool is unable to program the remote it may be possible that your vehicle didn't come with RKE or the option for RKE was lost in the BCM and it needs to be turned on again. Sitting with the battery dead for 2 years shouldn't have had anything to do with it, but maybe it may have led some modules to loose their settings memory?
