2004 Impala A.C. problem

Today when I started my car the A.C. will not blow air. I try every setting, I even tried heat and defroster. The lights come on the switch but no air at all. Then after 10 minutes of driving it starts blowing cold air. anyone have any ideas ?

Have you checked your blower motor relays ,fuses , or any other possibilities ?

Relay and fuse are good. It only does this every once in a while then it goes on after about 5-10 minutes of driving. I may have a bad connection at the blower motor maybe

My 02 has this same problem.

When this problem occurs the cruise light comes on and the message center is blank and the fan blower does not work. I have done a lot of online research and what I have found is that many other people have solved this problem by replacing the ignition switch. Many of them have taken their problem to dealer and as usual the dealer can fix problem for $500 or more. The dealer

never mentions the $100 ignition switch but replaces other high $ parts. I wonder if they know the problem? Anyway I have yet to try this fix. I intend to do it this weekend. I'll let you know if I am successful or not.

Thats bizarre, I'd be interested to hear if that fixes it or not. Luckily the ignition switch is pretty easy to replace in these.

I was not able to do this because I had to work. Also I din't think its that easy. The process that I read seems to entail a lower dashboard teardown. Do you know an easier way to do this?

It only takes a couple minutes to take out the lower dash

yes it did took about four hour to tear down the dash to get to it that includes a couple of beer breaks and a run to pick up new ignition switch

it worked got part from advance auto parts $85
all you need is the switch not the key part

Replacing the ignition switch fixed the problem. I'm still baffaled that the three problems seem so prevelent and yet the dealers don't seem to know about this fix

took about 180 minutes and it fixed the problem
