Weird noise on 2004 SS
I have a 2004 SS superchaged that recently developed a strange noise.
The easiest situation to recreate the problem is full throttle revving until about 4k. The engine seems to rev fine but underpowered. Once it hits 4k acceleration stops and it makes a metal popping sound and cuts power. It only does it driving though not revving in park or brake torquing. My dad's first suspect was a bad supercharger, I took the SC belt off and the sound went away and the car accelerates/shifts fine (as good as it can without the belt on anyways).
The SC is under warranty but I was just curious if anyone else has had this, strange symptom/noise that no one at my dads shop has heard before, haha. Pretty much my car has already had a ton of warranty work done to it and we dont want to call in this job until hes 100% its the supercharger. Though it seems to be the only variable because when the SC belt is off all symptoms are gone.
I ask because if it were an internal SC part id rather just replace it myself and be done with it than deal with a shop. (If you guys think its the SC anyways)
BTW car is 100% stock.
