Cooling system issues
I am pretty mechanically disinclined, which I hate. I ended up here because my wife's Impala was overheating and losing coolant with no visible coolant leaks. I made an attempt at replacing the thermostat, but screwed up the air intake gasket thingy. The shop replaced that, but now the temp gauge will yo-yo. When the temp climbs the heater stops blowing hot air until the gauge drops into the normal range. Sometimes it just yo-yos, sometimes it pegs to hot.
In trying to solve this online without more money to the mechanic I 'discovered' the bleeder valves. I am not sure if this has helped yet because of the snow falling right now. I have no desire to drive more in this white crap... BUT- I broke the bleeder valve above the, I believe, water pump on the passenger side front of the engine. Is there anyplace online to order that little assembly? My google-fu is weak so far. Thansk for listening, and any suggestions. Harry

2000, 3.4 engine, on the trim level, I am not sure. I believe it is the basic model, I bought used so I am not positive.

I would try to stick to the local stores just for the convenience, that part isn't likely to be expensive. It sounds like you have air trapped in the system though, so you will want to use the bleeders. Be careful with them however, lefty loosey righty tighty. And tighten them gently, there is no reason to crank them down.
