My backup cameral use to be the entire screen now the top looks like a tunnel and you can see boarders on the top. What happened and how can it be fixed. We took it to the dealer and they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
I'm assuming it's an older car out of the warranty - Otherwise who cares if the dealer can figure out what's wrong tell him to replace the camera, head unit, HMI module , mounts on the camera or whatever else is in the system until he fixes it.
It's possible the CMOS sensor in the camera detached or the lens shifted giving a distorted view. Easiest diagnosis if to clip in a new camera and see if that fixes it.
Also, I know this makes me sound pretty unintelligent, but I had a problem with the camera on our Buick. It turns out, I installed a new stainless steel license plate surround that was causing reflections and messing with it. Have you done anything recently with your license plate?
