3.4 Liter, 2004 Chevy Impala. Replaced cylinder and switch and not it won't crank. Went thru reset procedure but it will not start. I can jump it off starter but shuts off after 5 seconds. Has an old remote starter but it's disabled. Never had problem until I pulled out the ignition cylinder and switch and replaced. Anybody have a clue as to what might be the problem? Please see picture of what we replaced.

First of all, because I've heard they updated before the end of the 7th gen (per member tech2)...do you have a key with a chip in it? There will be a marking stamped into the blade of the key such as "PK3". Not sure if that makes a difference but just in case.

There are LOTS of people whose car won't start and they blame it on passlock because they just don't pay attention to the cluster before starting the car and when it doesn't start and they see "security" they think they've already diagnosed the problem. If you have a chip in the key it may be different but here is "normal operation" on my 2000 Impala LS 3.8 that doesn't have a chipped key:
1) Insert key and turn to position #2 (DON'T start it)
2) Watch message center toggle between "security" (NOT flashing) and "battery" (because it isn't running)
When there is a passlock issue "security" blinks 5 or 6 times really fast between toggling to "battery".
