hey guys new here from missouri the wife and me are soon to buy a 03 impala ls with 101k miles on it. and i have some questions about impala first:

1: is the 3800 engine as reliable as the 3.8L engine that was in the old bonneville because i used to own one and those motors are tough.

2: and when we go get the car the first thing we are probably going to do is put projector head lights on it and run hid ( because im not one of those dumb s*** that run hids in regular housing) and i was wondering what is a good brand projectors out there for the impala

and again thanks for the time to read my first thread and thanks for the help in advance.

Welcome to the forum! Yes, it is the same 3.8 bulletproof engine. There's a lot of good projector choices on eBay.

well bad news when me and the wife showed up to buy the car they said they just sold it. so im on the look again but found a good on in kansas city so hopefully i will have one soon. and i got a few more questions i notice sometimes i will come across a LS that does not have the fog lights and some that do i guess that is just a feature? and can you buy one that does not have the fog lights and put them on yourself or do you have to buy the right bumper first then put them on, then i guess you would have to then worry about how to hook them up.

Only if you want the fogs to look stock... you can buy some from an auto parts place and put them in the slots next to the license plate, but it looks dumb in my opinion... if you really want fogs and haven't bought the car yet, I would wait an find a car with them

The projector question: I bought some ccfls and I was not disappointed! You can see the halos during the daylight, and so far the H1 bulbs that came with them are great, I live deep in the woods and the stock bulbs are excellent, I have the added benifit of modding up the quad headlights so that the brights are on during the regulars and they are plenty bright

well thanks for the help. i did find a 05 grey with 136k on it for $4500 now since i plan on keeping this car for a long time i don't know if 136k would be too much mileage on it or not. and if anybody here is selling one in missouri please hit me up.

well just bought one its a 03 white ls with 174k miles on it for 4k i know the mileage is really up there but the engine sounds really good

yea it has the fogs but i wish i could haggled him down a little bit more because that is a lot of mileage on a car for paying 4k for but i feel better that kelly blue book value it at 5,500
