New Guy/New Project

Hey dudes. I have been lurking a while and decided to join up since I might be getting myself a rare Impala soon. I am a C-10, G/A and B body nutcase, so joining will be infinitely useful whether I buy it or not... but I haven't been this excited for a new project in a long time.

I am obviously open to whatever is in the best shape for the money, but some cars I am particularly excited about when I see them...

One thing I think would be cool is getting one my birth year, which this one happens to be.

I am finally at that point where I have a good career, wife, kids house and the lot... time to actually get a good project going!!!

Here goes: 1981 Impala coupe. It's a V8 but not sure if its a 267 or 305. Don't matter, coming out whatever it is.

The plan is simple: find something that need's minimal body work, solid frame and is complete. This one seems to be so (so far) and asking price is $650.

Next would of course be LQ4 (in my possession) T56 combo (not yet), late model seats (bonneville or aurora, whatever I can get cheap that matches) and all kinds of other ideas. I like the look of 18"steelies with poverty caps and fat rubber, air bags, wilwood discs on all 4 corners.

It is 1.5 hrs away, so I have been on the phone with the seller a lot asking as many questions as I can before making what could amount to a fruitless trek. I am hopeful that this one is better than I think it is :toothy5:

Any other advice you guys may have let's hear it. Thanks and I look forward to making a new thread soon when I take it home!!

So that one fell through, couldn't get it in time and for how far away it was I was a bit uneasy about its condition. I found another (its a more-door) that is in much better condition and I will be able to start right away with making it a nice sleeper/daily driver. I love these cars, 4 doors or 2 doesn't matter to me. Plan is LQ4 408 stroker with 799's and dual snails mated to a 4L80e. Can't wait!
