I have a 2004 impala and it has recently developed a squeaking noise coming from the front left wheel area. At very slow speeds, (hardly moving) you can hear the noise which occurs as the tire rotates. It appears it is making the sound in one spot of the tires revolution. ( not a constant noise as if it only occurs in one spot of the wheels rotation). The noise sounds like metal on metal. The sound only occurs when the vehicle is in motion. Any ideas?

My father has a 2004 Impala that's been babied since the day he bought it. Recently it threw a P0135 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) O2 sensor. It has a 2400 code E type engine. Can anyone tell me where that sensor is? I assume bank 1 is the one near the radiator, correct? I was hoping the sensor would be right in/near the manifold staring me in the face but it's not. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Steve

Hello all

I have a 2009 Impala LT w/3.5 V6 and 116,500 miles. I bought it last month and have put less than 600 miles on it. Today I pulled out of the driveway when suddenly the Check Engine and Traction Control lights came on. Then the DIC showed "Service Traction Control - Engine Power Reduced."

Google seems to think the problem is the accelerator position sensor. I found an old thread on here that agrees with that (I think). Have any of you gys had this issue? Any advice or other possibilities? I'm going to Napa now to have the code read and will post that shortly.

Thanks

I've read over 4 threads on how to replace the oil adapter gasket on the 8th gen impala (for me specifically, 2006 impala ltz). I got the replacement gasket, I got the tools, most of them I think, the only problem I'm having is finding the bolts to remove. I understand there is one 15mm bolt and two alien head bolts. Last time I tried to replace the gasket, I only saw the one alien head bolt. I couldn't really tell where was the oil cooler line I'm supposed to disconnect first. And the only bolts I was able to get my hand on was a 14mm bolt on the side of the filter adapter closer to the bottom. Can somebody help me out please? Maybe with thorough instructions/pictures? I want to replace this gasket ASAP!

Was in mild pre-rush hour traffic today, ac blasting as its 118 right now. So my impala, with23k mi and 60% oil life died. In traffic. Luckly it was a slow roll at the time so I could coast off. Put it in nuetral to start it up and go and it did about a half statt and died again. Eventually it started up, but I can hear some kind of liquid sound I can't explain or discribe. It was brief. Now my check engine light it on and I feel as thouugh it may be impacted by air conditioner. I drove it most of the way home with it on level one. Still not enough to keep from breaking a sweat. Got most of the way to my friends house and turnex it up half way and no change dramatically to RPMs. Called the three nearest dealers but none would look at it till monday. No rentals no shuttles. Hell I thought GM gave a crap at least about people who just got a 30, 000 $ car.
Thank God my one year old son wasn't in the car.
So yay. My plan for monday morning is hope this damn thing can make it to the dealer.

I am not a mechanic by any means so I'm sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge. I have an 02 impala, she has had a blown head gasket for 2 years now and I kept her running through a lot of crap (oil in antifreeze, antifreeze in oil) she has run for two years with a sealant in her and ran as though nothing was wrong, 2 days ago I was giving her the beans down the highway when I let off the accelerator she backfired louder than usual (big hole in resignater), when I went to give her the gas she sputtered terribly so I coasted her down the street when I would give her a small amount of accelerator she seemed to do better than if I put my foot down. Anyway the car shook like I was running on four cylinders and died right in front of my house and now she won't start without starting fluid and then she only runs for a second shakes like a leaf and dies. Is this a timing problem? if so where is the timing chain/belt. Or could it be something else? I don't care if I blew the motor up really because I bought an Olds Sillouette so I could use it's engine, but if I can keep this engine running and fix the head gasket it would be better. Any info would be greatly appreciated.:hope: 3.4 liter unknown mileage, offbrand cold air intake installed

Hey guys,

I'm pulling out what little hair I have left trying to find the answer to this. A couple of months ago the blower motor stayed on high, even after I took the key out of the ignition. Had to pull the cable off of the battery to get it to stop. I know I could have pulled the fuse but it's a second car and not a daily driver. I thought I'd have it fixed by now but nothing but frustration. I saw on here and other sites that it may be the blower motor module (resistor). So I replaced it. Didn't fix it. Researched it more and somebody said could be the hvac controller..so, replaced that with one off of ebay. Didn't fix it. Hmm, could it be wiring? How bout the connector? It's a base model 3.4 ltr 2005 Impala. When I looked for the connector online I was not able to find the correct one. Nothing matches what I have. It has a 5 wire connector with 3 going into the resistor (black, red, small grey) and 2 coming out and going to the blower motor (black and purple). Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

hey guys, forewarning this is gonna be a lengthy explanation, but bare with me please.

so about four months ago now, i started having problems with my blower motor kicking in and out, i figured it might have been the dual climate control, so i ended up purchasing one of those. It ended up fixing the problem for a week, and the blower motor went out again. So, after that i went through the electrical lines leading down to the blower motor, thinking maybe no electrical is running down into the resistor/motor itself. Low and behold, no electricity running down to the resistor. So then i traced the wires back up into the car, and found the harness that sits behind the control unit (which was hard as hell to find, and get to by the way). And, pulled that apart. Come to find out that the positive wire ended up charring the plastic and the metal in the harness (on both sides), causing a loose connection. So, instead of trying to find a replacement harness, i just cut the wires on each side of the harness, added a length of wire, and bypassed the harness. And yahoo! There was power going down to the blower motor once again. Well, after I had bypassed the harness, I knew the resistor was going bad, because it was kicking in and out on me. So, i ended up replacing the stock resistor with a replacement. That worked for a good month or so, and as of Friday night, (two days ago) I was having the same problem once again, where my blower motor was kicking out. I figured it was the blower motor itself, so i went and got that replaced, and it worked up until this morning. Where once again it didn't turn on right away, and if it did it would cut in and out. So now im pretty sure that it's the blower motor resistor again.

If you have read this whole explanation, I appreciate it. But, my question is;

Given everything i have done to try and troubleshoot/fix this problem already, what would cause my blower motor resistor to keep failing like this?

And how would you suggest I fix this issue (cheaper the better, economy is hard right now).

COULD YOU ALSO SEND YOUR REPLIES TO MY EMAIL, SO THEN I KNOW I GET THE REPSONSE

I took my 06 Impala ss,5.3 off the road for about a month, bought another car, I was getting the typical or so I thought bad oil pressure sending unit light, been through 4 ,car has 125,000 miles with oil changed regularly. The car was down a quart when I started to use it again, I let my son use it a couple of days and told him it was down a quart. Insisted I wanted it topped off. He calls me on second day saying that the engine is shaking, well low and behold he says he put in the oil but who knows when. I go to get my car and sure enough it sounds as though its running on a few cylinders. I drove it home 15 miles, no overheating but there is a ticking sound maybe a couple of lifters. It isn't in a limp mode as it is displaying 8 cyl mode. It has no low end noise but any common ideas out there. It ran great until I parked it. Seems as though it is running on 5 cyls if I'm lucky.

Greetings. While I love the 2006 Impala LTZ I have owned for the past year and 1/2; the electrical problems are starting to drive me nuts. First the air door activator went bad. Then the rearwindow defroster quit working.

Both those have been repair under my Compass extended warrenty but now it has started blowing light bulbs. Passenger side low beam headlilghts and rear brake/turnsignal bulbs are lasting ony about a week before blowing. No other bulbs are effected and replacement bulbs work----for a while.:WTF:

Can anyone tell me is there has been a TSB on this?

Is there some component that would cause a power spike on only these two circuits?

Part of my rear defroster problem was related to the body control module (BCM) connections; could this be related?

If I can't get this fixed I am going to trade it off even though I really love driving it.:bang:

Hey guys, I just bought a 2001 Impala 3.4. It has 175k on it. I did a coolant flush on it while changing out the coolant level sensor. I drove it around for about 30 minutes no problem until I parked it and let it stay running with the AC on. It slowly got hotter and hotter and the coolant started to boil over into the reservoir.

I replaced the radiator cap after I saw this and topped off the coolant to the exact level.

I also noticed that one of my radiator fans doesnt work at all. I believe with the AC running full blast both fans should run. Only 1 does, the drivers side. I switched the wires between the 2 fans and still just the drivers side works. Sounds like a bad fan motor, right?

I've tried swapping around all the relays and all the relays seem to be fine.

I'm hoping its just overheating because of the fan not work or even the radiator cap.

Today I went out and ran the car at idle for over 30 minutes with the AC blasting and it never got passed halfway on the thermostat (not sure of the that temp is)

Before I spend $100 bux on a new radiator fan assembly I wanted your guys opinions if this could be the cause of my overheating. Im hoping its not a blown head gasket or something. The car doesnt smoke or anything out of the exhaust.

Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions are all welcome!

I have a 2007 Impala and a couple o weeks ago I was unable to start my car and while trying to determine the problem I found my oil was very low. My father was helping and put about 4 quarts of oil in, this seemed like alot but I didn't question his judgment. The problem turned out to be a loose starter wire, but ever since then a message keeps popping up and then going away saying 'oil pressure low stop engine' accompanied by beeping. I was told it was probably because there was too much oil so I had some drained today and was also told I have an oil leak. Afterwards it was fine for a bit but the warning started coming and going again. I'm wondering if the leak could be the cause of this, or if not what other reasons might there be? Also wondering what the chanced were that the sensors just faulty?

Hello everyone! I am having issues with my car.

Its been driving fine for a while now and all of a sudden it started overheating.

Here's what I checked so far:

Circulation
Heater Core
Fluid Level
thermostat

Now some times the heat goes hot and cold.. It takes a while for the temp to get up and then it bounces down and once it gets to the midway point it eventually goes up and overheats.

I am at aloss, I can see fluid movement in the radiator so the waterpump must be good.

Please help!@
