Overkill computer relearn

How long does it take for the car to fully adjust to installing the Overkill computer with a 91 Octane tune? It seems to be more reponsive after one week of driving then when I first put it in. Also a few days after installing it my water pump and some elbows started leaking (coincedence), but I bought a good used car warranty like I always do so no problem. I also had him install the 180 degree thermostat at the same time. Next week the zzp downpipe and bigger sway bars go in.

Impala blower/resistor ??

Have a 05 Impala and last 6 months or so the air would quit blowing. Could wiggle the pig tail on the blower under glove box and would work fine again. So finally the jiggle won't help and I just replaced the pig tail. NOW the fan is running but louder than normal and no air coming out. WHERE DID I GO WRONG?

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are, as my 2002 LS w/3.8 hits 200k with minimal oil consumption what the opinion of going to 10w30 synthetic blend with Dexos rating ? I can buy it in Pennzoil about the same price as the 10w30 conventional I've been using?

I'm on my phone so I'll keep it short. a/c does not blow cold. I had the system vacuumed and refilled. holds pressure and compressor kicks on. radiator fans do not come on.

any ideas?

Trying to solve a P0171 condition!

Is there a work up or sticky on how to locate remove and clean the maf and egr. Getting 23mpg , 26, and 23 mpg with 70% highway on last three tanks. Wanna try to increase.

Hey guys so I change my cluster awhile back and I notice that it was a bit low but I didn't care at all... Now the odometer scream is completely out.. Do anyone know how to fix that at all or know what to do...

Fog Lights

Oh no!!! Not another fog light thread!! But I cant find my answers in the search.

I have a 2000 LS. During the week most of my driving is overnight. As we all know the factory fog lights are about as useful as holding a flashlight out the window. I don't want to try the 50 watt bulbs because I have read they will melt the housing. I want to mount some brighter driving lights in the space next to the factory fogs. There is plenty of metal in that space to fabricate a solid bracket to mount the lights to.

I was looking at lights online but the websites don't give any dimensions. I would need a wide thin light to fit there. Has anyone successfully mounted any lights in that space? What brand and model light did you use?

Tranny lifespan ?

I posited last week about my hard shifting etc on the car I just bought. It's a 2005 and 1 owner. Come to find out tranny fluid and filter never changed till I didn't last week. It shifts hard when warm and kinda hangs in between shifts when cold. Classic solenoid issues from what I read. My mechanic seems to think that since we have 120000 miles and no maintenance done it may be better to just drive the car till the tranny goes then get a low mileage or rebuilt replacement because its hard to know how much damage on mine has been done already or when this issue actually started on the original owner. I'm ok with that because my mechanic is fair and good ad has never led me wrong so I wanna know.....

How long should I expect a tranny to last once the solenoid / valve body starts acting crazy? 1000 , 5000, 10000, 20000 miles or is it just a flip of the coin and luck?

Power window help

Ok.... Got a 2005 that the rear power window won't roll down or up with the drivers switch and only rolls down with the switch on the door (wont roll back up). I unplugged the switch and moved it to the opposite side and it works fine so the switch is good. I ordered a new motor and it does the same(just rolls down but not up). At a loss now.... Would it be wiring issues or what? Any advice?

Front bumper molding question

Hi all,

I recently got into an accident with my 2003 impala ls, fortunately it's just bumper damage. Being I need to get new bumpers and have them painted, I plan on going with the paint to match molding all around. I've been able to find the part numbers for the paint to match side molding, but I've been unable to find the part number for the front and rear paint to match molding.
So, I was wondering if any of you that have the 03 w/appearance package, or SS, or the 2004-2005 with the body color molding on your front and rear bumpers, is this molding actually a molded part of the bumper (ie not removeable)? Because if it is an actually physically unremoveable piece of the bumper, that would explain why I cant find a part number for it. And if it isnt actually part of the bumper, anyone happen to know the part number for it?

2000 impala shaking while accelerating

I have a 2000 impa;a that shakes while accelerating between 30-50mph. If I set the cruise at 50 mph it almost completely goes away but if I slightly accelerate it starts shaking again until around 52 mph

My heated drivers seat don't turn off. I figured that, for now I could just pull the plug. Well, I pulled the plug from the switch, but it still feels like the seat back, and part of the bottom get warm...? So, I also pulled the fuse from the side panel on the dash. The top one I think, that showed it as the drivers seat/bcm. The BCM part disturbs me, but the car runs fine. What to do, what to do. Is it my imagination that the seat heats?? :dunno:

hello guys. ive got a thread posted on the gm forum, but i think it might be better posted here. so last tuesday, after driving the car about 150 miles on the same gas i filled my car with on the same day from the same pump, i parked the car for about 30 mins and then decided i needed cigs. so i go to leave and the car would not stay running more than a second or 2 in ten minutes of cranking. i finally gave up and left the car, thanking god it happened at home, and not 75 miles away.

today, i went to move the car to mow and it ran fine the whole 30 or so seconds i had it running. went and got in it to cool off from mowing, and after about 90 seconds of it running, it starts acting like its got a wayy high lift cam in it. jumping from 1500 rpm to 500 and so on. eventually it ended up not being able to idle on its own and kept dying. after a few swear words and a cigarette, i tried again, this time it seemed to be firing on about 2 cylinders and was pouring gas into the exhaust. (ungodly bad gas smell from the exhaust.) in the second video i said i smell smoke. i later found out from a neighbor, there was a fire in the exhaust, i assume the catalytic converter set the gas on fire.

i checked the FPR the other day, and after 5 mins of run time, no gas came out. smelling of the tube after all this mess today, i did smell gas faintly.

Temp gauge flucuates 2002 Impala

Hi Everyone My Impala recently had new intake manifold gaskets put on upper and lower (? I'm not good with car talk) also a new water pump. The car is running fine and is quiet but the temperature gauge is moving up and down which it did not do prior to having the work done.

What's up

Looking for a few answers on here and seems like this is the best site for some opinions...

I've had my 04 impala LS for about 2 years now 2nd owner bought it with 70K miles clean title and is currently at 103k that being said here are my questions.

Any opinions on any work that should be done to my car since I've reached over 100k?

I've done scheduled maintenance to my car all the time Oil changes, tune ups, brakes, tires , filters...ETC.

On to the next question...

Recently I had an accident on where my rear driver side tire was hit by a scooter but I got it all fixed and aligned, Now a few months later at times when I accelerate my car a weird vibration noise appears along with the message on my dash saying "traction active" moments later my ABS light turns along with "Service Traction System"

Any idea what this all means? Or what I can do to fix it?

Now after I get all this resolved I'm looking to make my baby faster and run better any upgrade ideas for the engine?

Also looking to get new headlights need suggestions on which is the best near to OEM and where is the best place to purchase?

I put in the Overkill computer (91 Octane tune), front strut brace, and K&N drop in filter. Next week will be the bigger GM sway bars, ZZP 2.5 downpipe and 180 degree thermostat, and very light window tint. I have two questions. First, will 93 or higher octane make more horsepower then 91 with this set up. Second, will the 180 thermostat cause my mpg to go down? Thanks guys.

Driving home from work today and my car sputters on and off and sometimes the battery light comes on... I was thinking bad crankshaft position sensors until I smelt rotten eggs (which leads me to believe its the catalytic converter)

Radiator fan motors in 2002 Impy / 3.4

My son's 2002 Impala is needing fan work...again From the noises, I'm sure one of the old fan motors is losing a bearing. I had the assembly swapped out once only to have one of the fans in the Dorman unit wear out (likely due to wobble because it wasn't well balanced from the git go).

When that happened, I pulled a motor off another old fan assembly I had (from my daughter's 02 Impala) and cadged that together with the remaining good motor on the fan assembly. That worked great for a while, but now one of those is going.

Before I plunk down another 100-150 bucks for a fan assembly, I want to ask if anyone has had any luck finding a source for just the motor or motor/fan combo. It seems to me that these things should repairable without needing to replace the entire housing along with the remaining one good motor/fan.

So if anyone knows a source for a replacement motor, please post it here. Thanks.
