Oh no!!! Not another fog light thread!! But I cant find my answers in the search.

I have a 2000 LS. During the week most of my driving is overnight. As we all know the factory fog lights are about as useful as holding a flashlight out the window. I don't want to try the 50 watt bulbs because I have read they will melt the housing. I want to mount some brighter driving lights in the space next to the factory fogs. There is plenty of metal in that space to fabricate a solid bracket to mount the lights to.

I was looking at lights online but the websites don't give any dimensions. I would need a wide thin light to fit there. Has anyone successfully mounted any lights in that space? What brand and model light did you use?

Hello everyone! I am having issues with my car.

Its been driving fine for a while now and all of a sudden it started overheating.

Here's what I checked so far:

Circulation
Heater Core
Fluid Level
thermostat

Now some times the heat goes hot and cold.. It takes a while for the temp to get up and then it bounces down and once it gets to the midway point it eventually goes up and overheats.

I am at aloss, I can see fluid movement in the radiator so the waterpump must be good.

Please help!@

One of my family members was killed in the 1999 twister that hit the same town. (The '99 Moore tornado had the highest wind speeds ever recorded in a twister: 300+ mph.)

If any members of this forum live in that area, I wish them the best.

** Update: as of this posting , 91 people are confirmed killed. Many are children.

I want to learn how to do some plastic injection molding and I figured the best way to learn is to make something I really want. This is just a dream right now so who knows if it will ever actually get done but it should make for some nice conversation maybe.

I was in philly the other day and saw a ton of 2011-2013 Dodge Caravans (yes the minivans) and thought that they have a pretty nice front bumper and are relatively cheaper to get. My idea is to chop the bottom of the front bumpers off and piece the bottom of the dodges onto the impala, some fiberglass, some bondo and bang I have a plug for a mold. In my mind i think it would look pretty nice. Anyone have any other bumper frankenstein ideas that would seem interesting, with a reasonably cheap bumper.

I posited last week about my hard shifting etc on the car I just bought. It's a 2005 and 1 owner. Come to find out tranny fluid and filter never changed till I didn't last week. It shifts hard when warm and kinda hangs in between shifts when cold. Classic solenoid issues from what I read. My mechanic seems to think that since we have 120000 miles and no maintenance done it may be better to just drive the car till the tranny goes then get a low mileage or rebuilt replacement because its hard to know how much damage on mine has been done already or when this issue actually started on the original owner. I'm ok with that because my mechanic is fair and good ad has never led me wrong so I wanna know.....

How long should I expect a tranny to last once the solenoid / valve body starts acting crazy? 1000 , 5000, 10000, 20000 miles or is it just a flip of the coin and luck?

Already inspected the hub - ohm reading when spinning the rotor was 1000-1100. Sensor lead was 5volts. visual inspection of the wires showed no break from the hub to main bundle(? Near the ac compressor I think - sorry not great at identifying everything in the engine bay). Visual inspection of the abs pump ground was good.

Hi all,

I recently got into an accident with my 2003 impala ls, fortunately it's just bumper damage. Being I need to get new bumpers and have them painted, I plan on going with the paint to match molding all around. I've been able to find the part numbers for the paint to match side molding, but I've been unable to find the part number for the front and rear paint to match molding.
So, I was wondering if any of you that have the 03 w/appearance package, or SS, or the 2004-2005 with the body color molding on your front and rear bumpers, is this molding actually a molded part of the bumper (ie not removeable)? Because if it is an actually physically unremoveable piece of the bumper, that would explain why I cant find a part number for it. And if it isnt actually part of the bumper, anyone happen to know the part number for it?

Thanks for you help,

Lowering 9C Police Car... HELP!

While I am new to the Impala, I am not new to W-Body's and have had 4 Grand Prix's... holy crap, that is depressing! I have been active on CGP for over 10 years so I am not a noob to the W-body, but I am a noob to the 9C. I was in the market for a new daily driver and came across a STEAL on an '07 9C Police Impala and had to get it.

I am going through the car and getting some basic fixes done and want to keep the car mostly stock but there are two "big" mods I want to do. First, I want to swap the 16" steelies for 18" Charger Police steelies. I know this is a direct swap and will definitely give the car a unique look. Second, I want to do something for the suspension to fix the typical w-body float which is where I need your help...

I did a search but couldn't find much info. From the 9C literature and parts searches, I know the car has 9C struts & springs... but if I want to lower the car or just firm things up, can I go with regular W-body struts & springs? The specs on RockAuto show the police strut has different specs (especially rear) than the regular strut:

Police FRONT
Body Length: 13.750"
Compressed Length: 10.500"
Extended Length:	15.375"
Travel: 4.875"

Regular FRONT
Body Length: 13.750"
Compressed Length: 10.250"
Extended Length: 16.625"
Travel: 6.375"

Police REAR
Body Length: 15.500"
Compressed Length: 15.625"
Extended Length:	21.000"
Travel: 5.375"

Regular REAR
Body Length: 16.625"
Compressed Length: 15.500"
Extended Length: 23.125"
Travel: 7.625"

So... what happens if I switch to a GR-2 strut and leave the 9C springs? What happens if I swap the springs & struts out for aftermarket?

I am sure there are some 9C guys that have messed with the suspension and I am eager to hear what the options are.

Thanks!
