Performance Mods

Searched the forum but only found 2 year old stuff. I'm looking to get a tuner/programmer for my 06 Impala ltz. Not sure whats all out there but autozone has a bullydog power programmer for 219.00. Wondering if anyone has had any luck with these? Or should i just steer clear of them? Thanks!

Get an Overkill pcm better than a turner.

Alright, guy. Big three. Get a dual exhaust, a fenderwell intake, then an Overkill PCM tune. Those are the big starters if you want a noticeable bump.

noob questions...my 07 LTZ has dual stock...is there a difference? also is there a difference between the cold air intake under the hood with a ram mod from the fender vs without? is it ok to just get a under hood cold air intake when its actually a short ram air and not a true cold air intake? also, should I get the overkill pcm before or after the other mods?

I believe the stock is "fine," but a performance one will give better sound and if you get bigger pipes you will have better flow.

It is better to do FWI because under the hood is just suckin in hot air, defeats the purpose.

and PCM after anything you plan to immediately do.

Intakes that use a short ram are counterproductive, air heated by the engine compartment will decrease performance and economy. You need something that will pull in outside air, and has an insulated pipe that won't heat the air as it passes through. Or you can open up the stock airbox more for better flow.

so will i be able to feel a noticeable difference in power with the Overkill? should i go with 87 or 91? I have no problem running 91 in my car so if its a better tune id rather do that

87 should be fine for the 3 mods I listed. That's the same setup I run on my 03, it's noticeable, but don't expect to be blown away.

No reason really for street use especially since it is easy to gunk up the engine that way. Do a S/C or T/C for power.

You can run a 50 shot no problem.

Also you can run a turbo or a pro charger but there are no kits available. Its all custom work.
