Searched the forum but only found 2 year old stuff. I'm looking to get a tuner/programmer for my 06 Impala ltz. Not sure whats all out there but autozone has a bullydog power programmer for 219.00. Wondering if anyone has had any luck with these? Or should i just steer clear of them? Thanks!
I check mine with the obd2 scanner.
I can tell how much vaccum is in the intake and doing highway speeds can actually get positive pressure with my setup. Only about 0.4psi positive pressure but better than vaccum lol
would you think 2 inches outside diameter and 4 inches long around the filter would be enough air space to not choke out air flow? since k&n is a high flowing filter?
I'm not sure weather it would be best to have space around the outside of the filter, or the filter set flush with the walls of the canister. I made a basic design of it. All the air would have to go through the filter to make it towards the maf sensor
Connect your bumper air intakes to the front of that filter with a coupler
Have them connect to the filter in the fender so you get the ram effect and can suck cold aor from the fender
Then just run 3in pipe to your maf coming right off the throttle body.
True cold air and ram air intake setup.
No need for custom canister
I had a secret weapon r intake on my impala when i first got it. The metal intake piping would get mega hot from heat soak and the filter would just sit in the engine bay sucking hot air.
So there intake kits are junk
But there filters are pretty good flowing filters and pretty good construction.
If you hook it up like i said above i think youll have a badass intake setup
I would love to be able to do that, it was my 1st idea. Its too wet where I work, the roads get quite a bit of standing water, I'd be afraid of sucking water or at the least ruining my filter.
If you sit it in the fender up high like come into the fender bang a 90 and attach the filter youll be higher than the factory sucking location behind the headlight.
Plus if your bumper inlets are submerged it can suck air from the sides of the filter and wont suck from the front where the inlets attach too
The opening on the left is the factory intake location.
Where that black duct is running is up from my bumper though the fender to the maf
I think you can fit the filter high in there and not suck water.
I know i have a 8th gen and you dont but im pretty sure its the same deal
I like it k3: ! Do you think the crinkle tube would have a negative effect on power? I know it would be better than stock still, whats your opinion? It seems to be very simiar as far as routing goes with the 7th and 8th gens.
Thats me, I love diy projects especially custom ones. I love to pop the hood and say "hey I done that". It can be something as simple as a little paint or wire tuck anything that makes it more my own.
There is no way a intake of any type is gonna give you over 20hp to the wheels.
Since the test was conducted by spectre i wouldn't trust it even more.
Not to mention that metal intake pipe has to get the worst heat soak ever.
Plus the camaro was built to be a performance car its intake is already a higher performance intake compared to most others like the impala.
Go on the camaro forum and see what they are running its sure as hell not the spectre intake
I agree, I knew there was an issue as soon as "Spectre" popped up at the beginning of the video. You aren't going to get an unbiased and honest result from the people trying to profit from it.
Well i tried to purchase the overkill tune but for some reason the website wont accept my visa card. I tried 2 different ones and still nothing. has anyone ever had problems with that before? I tried contacting will via gmail but no responces. thanks!
Takes about a month or so. Depends on were your are. What he does is download the correct file for your PCM then modifies it. That takes a 2 weeks then another week to ship it. takes a week becuz border patrol and customs has to open the box up and check it, repackage and ship it again. So don't be surprised when you get a big bright green sticker on it and says border patrol k3: oh and on top of that he has another job so he does tuning on his spare time. Just have patience.
