I'm still in the market for a nice used impala for my son. We have looked at several but we are taking our time deciding on one. I found this one on Craigslist not too far from where I live. It has a good description but the seller didn't leave his contact information. I have replied to the email but have yet to hear from him/her. What do you guys think of this one? Is a SS too much power for my son?

Quite frankly, with the weight of an impala I don't think even te 240hp in the SS is too much.

That one looks to be in nice shape. Don't know enough about the value to know if that's a good price or not. On a car that age, I'd make sure you get all servicing records. No, I don't think that would be too much power for your son. A teenager can get in trouble with a 100 hp 4-cylinder if they choose to, so it's all in how you've taught him to drive and be responsible in his vehicle.

Well said guys. I'm proud to say thus far he has been a very responsible driver. I preach to him all the time about not being in a hurry and to leave on time so he won't feel that he has to rush. So far he has earned his mom and my trust. I just wish I could contact the seller. I'm sometimes skeptical about craigslist because I know there are so many fake posts. What I don't understand is what does a person have to gain by posting fake ads on there. If it's legit maybe he'll reply to my email soon.
