climate control in 2011 Impala
I just got my Impala at the beginning of the year, and the option I got was "manual" climate control, which is basically two levers (one drivers, one passenger) in the center console that you can adjust heat or cold, depending on your likeness.
In my Avalanche (2005), I can set a dial to a specific temperature, and it will automatically adjust heat or cooling to get the interior to that temperature. Is there an upgrade module to do something similar to the Impala? Is there a "likeness" Cadillac that would have the auto climate control that would work in the Impala? I've already taken the console apart, and it's just a couple of screws and a wiring harness, so it looks like it would be plug and play, but just wondering if anyone can confirm this, or has done this (or tried to!) |

Nobody has done it. The DTS/Lucerne auto climate control would fit perfectly, since they use the same head unit. Something tells mt it will not work - the auto climate control is fairly complicated and you need inside sensors etc. I so badly want to do this too. Keep us posted if you find a way to make it work.

I checked out gmpartsdirect.com and there is an ambient temp sensor on the DTS, which I know I don't have, so I would have to get that too, and the dash controls have an option for either "with" or "without" aux controls (which I'm assuming would be for the rear AC (which the Impala doesn't have).

Keep me posted!! You will be my hero if you figure this out. No joke, I would pay upto 1K to be able to pull this off. It really is that important to me.

Took apart the dash last weekend, at least the console part of it, and this is starting to look like it's impossible....
The "head unit" for the AC/heat has spots for 4 wire harnesses, but there are only two connected. There are no "pins" for the other two. The two with no connections is what I believe to be for either "rear seat" AC/heat and/or the ambient temp sensor. Gonna see if a call to the dealership will open up any new leads.... |

^^ Issue is that you will also need different actuators for all the vents I have come to conclude. I hope I am wrong...... please tell me I am wrong and keep working on this!!! :)

Do you still have the Avalanche? Cause if you do, take apart it's console and compare it to what you find behind the Impala's console. Should be able to figure out what's missing and needed to be added on to the Impala a little easier when you can see both side by side so to speak.

Still have it, but it's way different than the Impala... I'd have to get into a Caddy to see what's different between that and the Impala. I've taken apart the console in the AV way too many times, installing strobe lights, train horns, LED's, and an aftermarket stereo. It's tons of work.... |
