Does the 2004 Impala SS use power steering fluid or transmission fluid for

the power steering? I need to add power steering fluid to my car. I can't find my manual. I did a search to find the location of where to add the fluid. It also said that some Impalas use transmission fluid instead of power steering fluid. Does anyone know for sure?

those two fluids are interchangeable

for sure it uses power steering fluid, cars or trucks haven't used transmission fluid in 20 years, and that was a special type F for ford.

Power steering Fluid. If you look at the cap on the pump it will show what looks like a steering wheel. Gm has put a picture on all caps to show what fluid they need. Good luck!

look on dipstick it will tell u...atf is similar... jump on phone to dealer...they are happy to answer dumb questions...ask how i know..lol

You can go 2 routes with adding power steering fluid. First you can go with GM p/n 89021184 or GM also has a cold climate fluid which is listed as p/n 12345867. Hope that helps you out.

from my experience stick with the cold climate stuff, to keep the pump from whining at a cold start.
