Gas mileage with with the 3.5L?

I bought a used '08 in Florida last week and drove it home 1000 miles to DC. I'm quite surprised after doing the math that it was getting over 32 mpg for the whole trip. And that was with the cruise on 75 mph most of the way and the A/C on half the time. Can't help to think what it would get at 55 mph. Thats probably as good as a smaller Malibu or even Cobalt. Anyone else getting such high mileage?

I wish I got that good of mileage. I might need to check mine out. I just got back from a 3500mi road trip and only got 26.7mpg. Anyone know if the 18" tires and wheels will cause lower MPGs?

My engine is turning at about 1900 rpm at 75 mph as a comparison.

Ben, I have the 50th Anniversary edition with the 18" (SS) wheels. Im guessing the extra rotating weight could be driving my mileage off about 2mpgs. Just wanted to make sure before I started thinking about doing anything to the car.
