Well I've been running my impala with the Overkill Throttlebody for the last few weeks and I'm throughly impressed with the improved throttle response and feeling of increased power throughout the gas pedal. My question goes out to anyone with a catch can. Have you noticed more in the catch can since upgrading? What is in my catchcan pictures below represents about 120 miles that I drove the last 2 days. Weather has been a bit cold. Around the teens to upper 20's here in the motor city. I'm currently waiting on my upgraded tune to come in to me and right around spring I plan on dumping in some Jacfab spacers. I'm really happy with the Overkill products and as picky as I am with my car, I would gladly recommend these upgrades.
Should see mine lol been -10 celcius last month. Fills up faster and looks grosser. Looks like yours but more milky.
The only way I can see the 80mm TB adding more to the catch can , is under WOT the PCV vapors are pulled through the intake before the TB, and being yours is upgraded to 80mm over the OEM 72mm, more pcv vapors may be sucked in?
The colder weather does seem to make sense. I check it periodically. Right now, I'm only driving it when it's not wet out. I've got a truck that's my main winter ride and ended up having to have some ball joints changed out which left me to taking the impala to work for a few days until I could get the truck taken care of. I"ll continue to keep an eye on the catch can as the weather warms up and see if there is still a noticeable difference.
Do not cut or crush the Overkill pills. Consult your doctor before taking Overkill. Side effects may include dizziness, blurred vision, joint soreness, priapism, nausea, discolored skin, lesions, vomiting and death.
I do nearly the whole 10 minute warm up every morning, and I give it about 5-8 getting out of work and I don't ever get the milkiness I've seen some get.
I don't lose a noticeable amount of oil between oil changes either, but I get about 1/3 of the can in 1000-1200 miles, maybe 3-4 ozs.
I drain it about twice during the oil life cycle, and change the oil and drain at about 5000 miles. When I pull the oil fill cap, there is a bit of milky thick oil on the cap though.
Mine seems mostly oil and gas, and nasty combustion stuff too, by the smell.
Only a fool would want to leave that in there. I sure don't get the denial.
Pull your oil filler cap a few minutes after starting on a cold morning, you guys will freak the f*** out, all kinds of moisture rolling around in the top end of the motor... By collecting it and not letting the engine incinerate it you're really doing more harm than good, where you do you dump that water, down the drain??? #catchcanbusybeemaintenance lol
I definitely don't pour it down the drain. I'm a little more responsible than that. I keep it in a jar and when I take the oil from my oil changes into be recycled I send it in with that.
I just have to remind people not to drink the coffee in the garage! Lol
Here we go again with the pros and cons of catch cans, please keep the topic on subject. If you have one good for you, if you don't then you don't, let it be.
I can't help myself! As long a busy bee catch can addicts keep posting pics of the oily water vapor they collect I'll keep picking on them. It's a totally useless task, adds no value to the process, it's just something to do lol...
