Can the instructions be viewed online from some where? I want to see the notes about having to adjust the springs once the spoiler is installed.

I don't have the on line instructions - but I can tell you how to adjust the springs as I did it on my 2014 Impala 2LTZ.

Open the trunk lid. On the left and right side, remove several "push pin" type black plastic fasteners that hold the carpet to the side of the interior (near where the trunk lid dog leg hinges go through the carpet). Set the pins aside as you will reuse them.

Pull back the carpet near the hinges and you will see the counterbalance spring (on each side). The rear of the spring is hooked into a notch in a bracket. Use a needle nose vice grip pliers (or a large needle nose pliers) and pull the curved end of the spring to the rear notch on the bracket (there are two notches). Do this on each side.

Push the carpet back in place and reinstall the fasteners. This is very, very easy to do and will take no more than 5-10 minutes (if you take your time......).

My car does not have the spoiler, but moving the hinge end to the rearward bracket position enabled the trunk lid to "self-raise" when it was released from the remote or the switch on the dash.

Good luck - if you have any additional information, please ask.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. But, do I pull from the outside or inside curved part? I think you mean from the inside right? Just grab there and pull forward?

Thanks! Derp. I don't mean to cross post. I made a thread about it kinda here http://www.impalaforums.com/chevy-i...poiler-added-trunk-lid-no-more-auto-open.html a while back and for got about it. Even you posted in it. My question. Is it really worth pulling the lining and making the adjustment? I read in that thread. A fellow member has the spoiler as well. Made the spring adjustment and it done nothing for him. So, just wondering if its a waste of time to try? If not and I do it. Is it okay to have the trunk deck all the way open while doing it? I don't want a flying spring or something going hay wire by doing something that simple the wrong way.

If I remember correctly, the spoiler installation sheet instructs the installer to set the spring at the rearward notch.

My 2014 Impala 2LTZ does not have the spoiler. When I bought it new, the trunk would self-open when released. It stopped after several months (I'm guessing the springs wreaked or stretched). After a trip to the dealer who did not fix it correctly, I set the tension springs to the rearward position so it would self open.

You can open the trunk fully when adjusting the springs (one at a time). If you are concerned, have a helper hold the lid open. It is very, very easy to pull back the carpet (after removing a few plastic fasteners) to adjust the springs. They are also very easy to adjust. Just hold onto the curved edge of the spring when you pull it rearward to the second notch. The springs are not very strong and can be adjusted without a lot of strength.

I need to get a hold of an interior tool for those plastic screws. They are a pita trying to remove them with out a tool. I gave up on the first one until I get the proper tool.
