Key Stuck in Ignition - Won't turn to OFF

Hey guys, I have a 2007 Impala LS and the key is stuck in the ignition. I can't get the key to turn to OFF; it stays stuck in ACC mode and runs down the battery. Any ideas how to (1) get the key out and (2) fix the problem?

I am wondering if the problem lies either in the floor console wiring or the solenoid right next to the ignition tumbler. I found this related thread and the poster mentions pulling the plunger of the ignition cylinder solenoid to get key out of ignition.

Can I push solenoid plunger without taking steering wheel column trim off? There is a torx screw and some other pin-type thing holding the steering wheel column trim together. I got the torx screw out but can't get the other thing out! Any ideas how to get it out?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much.

Here is a link to the picture. I'm trying to get this out so I can take off the steering wheel column trim cover, but I don't know what this is or how to get it out.
