Service Air Bag
I searched the forum the best I could from my DROID, but was unable to turn any results. Has anyone had problems with the air bag sensor? My dash keeps displaying Service Air Bag, and tripping on the red air bag light that comes on with initial start up. Sometimes it goes off and clears itself. Other times it will remain on until I turn the car off and back on. Of course it only does it when it wants to. It came on when i test drove it, so i had the dealer note it as something they would fix before we made the deal. When I took it back for service...you guessed it...they couldn't replicate it. Service told me to keep an eye on it, and bring it back if it came back on. Today it started again. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know of what may be causing this? The best I can figure is a faulty sensor.. any help is appreciated.
Thanks. Btw it an '09 LTZ. __________________ Rockin my Bowtie everywhere I can! |

There should be a code set, have they bothered scanning it?

I'm very sorry to hear about this, VelvitJones! Please let me know if you'd like me to research to check and see if there may be applicable recalls pertaining to this. I'm available anytime via direct message!

They said they checked codes for it, and found nothing. I took pix of it being on tho.
I'm taking it back Wednesday and leaving it, until they fix it. __________________ Rockin my Bowtie everywhere I can! |

They have a serious liability on their hands if they don't address it, just remind them that it's a safety issue.

On another note, they gave me a 2012 Impala LS with 500 miles as a loaner vehicle. It made me love my LTZ all that much more. I didn't realize how different the two handled. Although, I wouldn't mind having that 6 spd transmission. __________________ Rockin my Bowtie everywhere I can! |

I did. The dealership took care of it. They replaced the connection, which I believe is somewhere in the steering column. There is some type of fault in the connector itself, which disturbs the current, and trips the trouble code. I haven't see the error message since then. It took them about an hour. Half of which the car was sitting waiting on an available tech.
