Bluetooth?

Hi,

I have a 2010 Impala LT. I bought it used and I've had it for something like 6 months now, and it's probably been the best car I've ever owned. The only real problem with it is an intermittent rattle that comes from the back, but the dealer has committed to fixing it out of warranty when it gets worse since they documented it while the car was within warranty.

Anyways, to get to the point, the thing is loaded with features. It has OnStar, Bose, dual zone climate, heated seats, XM, a spoiler, pretty much everything but the auto climate controls and the sunroof. I was under the impression that having OnStar or the Bose audio system (I forget which one), one of those boxes contained a bluetooth module that you're supposed to be able to pair your phone with. The used car place I bought it from said it was supposed to have Bluetooth also. I'm on the 3 month OnStar trial right now, and I got the deeply discounted minutes and fell in love with the way the car handles phone calls (REALLY dig the DIC caller ID), but when I looked how much those minutes normally cost I had a freaking heart attack.

The problem here is my car seems to have no idea what Bluetooth is. According to the book, I'm supposed to hit the phone button and say Bluetooth. It just keeps saying "Pardon?" over and over again. How can I tell if this is a feature that for some reason my car doesn't have, or if I'm just being stupid and doing something wrong. And if it doesn't have it, how much would I be looking at to have it added in? It would definitely pay for itself, keeping me from buying 100 minutes from onstar for friggin $40.

Looks like you don't have it

Q: How do I know if my vehicle has Bluetooth?

A: Once in the voice recognition menu, say "Bluetooth." If the vehicle is equipped with Bluetooth, a "Bluetooth Ready" audio prompt will play. If the vehicle consistently responds with "Pardon" or some other response, then the vehicle does not have Bluetooth functionality. For vehicle specific instructions on how to enter the voice recognition menu, use the vehicle owner's guide.

It is a hardware add-on to onstar that as far as I know can be added on, this was over on the diesel forum.......

I added bluetooth from an 09 to my 07. can get you the factory gm parts to add it to your gmt900 trucks. my cost at the dealer ship with the vcim, bluetooth antenna, and new buttons for the steering wheel with phone pictures on them is about $300.00 and it will have to be programmed. then it will work just like factory 09. all you need to have is factory onstar and steering wheel controls.
here are the parts you need to add factory bluetooth to your 07 or 08, sierra silverado, yukon, yukon xl, tahoe, suburban, acadia, and enclave.

vcim # 20783877
antenna # 15938939
steering wheel switch # 25851951

Hi Snakester! If you'd like me to check to see if your Impala is equipped for Bluetooth and to investigate any other concerns you may have, just send me a DM that includes the last eight of your VIN.

Best,

Katie

Will not let you update

Katie,

The dealer where I bought a 2010 Impala without bluetooth option said that you can not add it to the car even if you get the correct vcim because GM will not let the dealer update the vcim. Is the correct?

Padky3, I'd like to contact your dealer to confirm this and gather a few more details into their reasoning. At your convenience, would you send me your name, address, phone, last eight of VIN, and dealership info via direct message?

Thanks in advance!

Not all 2010's were bluetooth capable so I am guessing yours is not. Did you send Chevy Cust. Srvc. your vin yet to find out?

2011 LT with everythign but Bluetooth

I bought a 2011 LT with the understanding the vehicle had Onstar and Bluetooth. Only when my wife went to pair it the next day it wouldn't do it. I read the book, tried it myself and it didn't work. I saw some posts on this forum and got the vehicles build sheet. The RPO code for Bluetooth wasn't on the sheet. The dealer is trying to resolve it and claims they have never had this issue. I am a little upset because it was the main feature my wife had to have on her next car. And I don't want the hassle of having to take a car back but I will . . . all over the lack of bluetooth.

I have to post to get my post count up to Private Message ChevroletCustomerService, so thank you for listening.

Try off topic discussion, that's a good place to get some posts in.

Let's not do that, negative side effects include infractions and banning.
