ambient temperature sensor

Okay more of a tech question.
I have an LT cluster, and the wiring harness is an LT harness, but the car is badged an LS. Now if I were to install an ambient temperature sensor would the computer acknowledge its presence and display or does the dealership need to make some adjustments with a tech 2? (of course something I won't go and get done)

Except that he would need to buy the temp sensor...and then it might not work....

The sensor ranges from $6-$12 in price. I'll get one and post the results for the random few that have different harnesses.
