Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help with this issue. I have a 2007 impala 3.9 and at times the key continues to get stuck in the ignition and shift lever also gets stuck. I read several things about tangled wire looms ect. I took it to dealer and they wanted 500 bucs to replace an ignition lock cylinder and said my wires semed fine. but they wouldnt guarantee that would be the fix. They said it could be a few things. I heard the tranmission cable may need adjustment under the hood by air intake. I didnt want to spend money at dealer with no guarantee fix. I heard it is common and if anyone else solved this problem could you possibly let me know what i can try. As of now we just wiggle the shift lever then the key releases eventually. It hasnt been stuck permanatly. The longest has been about 10 mins. It has about 66,000 miles and it a LT3 package. Thanks for your help!!!!
This will answer all your questions!!! Common issue. Your dealer is incompetent. All they needed to do was pull the TSB. $500 bucks and no guaranty of a fix? Geez.

Thanks for the reply. It looks it shows a few potential causes. The dealer said my wiring was fine under the shifter. Do you know if the RAP fuse that is being referred to toward the end of that post is the potential fix? i would of thought a blown fuse would not allow key to come unstuck at all. Mine works if i play with the shifter a little. Thank You!
Thanks for the help. Looks like it may even be some spilled sticky juice that was under the console form previous owner. Its all over those same wires. cleaned it. So far so good but it only happens once and awhile anyway
Beverly, I'm sorry to hear that! Are you still experiencing this concern? If so, please send me a private message through the forum for further assistance.
Hi Katie: This happened to us on 12/21/2013. Was able to get key out, but this is not fixed yet! It's snowing here today. Why has this not been recalled yet? It seems as though MANY people are experiencing the same problem. Here is how we are going to have to fix this issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v64eNMZQ1g
Oh geez, I remember my 01 Grand Prix having the same issue. The 'release' button was located underneath the steering wheel to get it out. I wonder if it's the same POS system in 07 Impala's?
