How do you reset security system light?

So my security system light is on now. I was doing the window tint the other day and used a non-chipped key I have to turn the ignition on to roll the windows up and down. After I was done I forgot and tried to start it with that key and it set the code. The normal keys still work but the dumb light is on now.

OK, you have your theft light on. But the car is working?

You may need to get to a Tech2 or another scanner to see what the code is.

Or, maybe take your battery cables off and touch them together. Also, while they are off. Cycle the key to run then off. Reconnect the battery.

Shouldn't be a hard code since it was only tripped once.

Battery disconnect, cable touch, and key turn didn't work so I'm at the dealer getting it reset. They also said they could activate the dome light again for $50 computer program fromGM and $80 labor. I said for that much I will live with it.

How many times after this did you start the car with the correct key? I thought the light would go out on its own after so many key cycles as long as you continue to use the correct key.

Also, $50 to program a computer AND $80 labor to reactivate the dome light? If it's entirely computer-related something sounds really fishy with that estimate. There really isn't any "labor" involved in plugging in a Tech 2 to program things. I could maybe see that if a module or some other physical component had to be replaced.

They told me it would go away with key cycles as well, so I just left it.
The labor for the dome light is to hook it up to the computer and download the new program. Probably takes them 10 minutes, but they charge some flat rate from the book, probably 30-40 minutes. I bet with an EFI live I could do it myself, but those things are like $1000. Funny because it was an "option" according to the window sticker and cost something like $50 in the first place. Seems like a simple switch would have been cheaper and more convenient, LOL!
