Engine power has been reduced warning???

I have a 2006 Impala LT and I keep getting a "the power has been reduced" and then I seem to lose almost all power to my car.I have looked around and not really found any good advice on what the problem could be.One person said it was my throttle position sensor but I read that it wasnt replaceable on this car and you need a completely new throttle body assembly.Could this be the problem or could it be something else? All help would be greatly appreciated.

eng power reduced

Do you get a Check Engine light?
Had the same thing on my 09LS. It was the throttle pedal unit. It's "throttle by wire" and the sensor on the pedal was bad. Mine would also hunt RPMs at a steady speed of 20, 40, or 60 MPH, but wouldn't do it with cruise control engaged. Cost was $250 at a dealer for parts and labor. Wish I would have done it myself.

There is a small plastic gear in the TB that wears out. The only repair is to replace the entire TB. I would press my dealer to cover this under warranty.
