Need help w/ headlight part#
I'm currently on the search for a OEM headlight for a 2006 and I'm having trouble with the part numbers. I looked on the one that is on the car now and found the part #15846362. While searching online for a OEM, I found OEM part #15942839 on several gm part websites. Then I called the dealership and they gave me part #25958359. I can't understand why the websites and dealership are giving me 2 different numbers. So here are my questions...
1)Shouldn't they both be the same OEM part number? 2)Would both part numbers be a correct OEM part? 3) I'm assuming that the number on the headlight I have on now is the original stock number? 4)Anybody know who makes the OEM headlight for the 2006 Impala? So can somebody help explain this to me? I've googled and googled and can't find much. Thanks |

Headlight bulb, or whole headlight assembly? Bulbs can be supplied by several manufacturers such as GE or Sylvania. But I don't think that would necessarily result in a part number change,
If the headlamp assembly, GM might have made a design change from 2006 if that year had any issues, although I don't think the IMpala had any widespred issues with excess condensation inside the lenses like some other GM products had. Sometimes a design change results in a different part number. |

Sorry, it's the assembly.
Thanks for your response. I got off the phone with Chevy earlier today and they told me that the number the dealership gave me is the one I should be looking to buy, and that I should just ignore the other part number that I'm finding online because that's the not the one he has. It was something like that I couldn't understand him (foreigner of course). Just can't figure out why I was finding that number on the online gm OEM part stores. Maybe he's just wanting me to spit out the extra 140 bucks and buy it from the GM dealerships! |
