How to Reset GM Theft lock Radio's
Article Disclaimer: This article is meant to be used by Delco Radio owners to reset there radios. In no way is it meant to be used for any unethical or unlawful ways.
Purpose
The following instructions will allow you to reset any GM (General Motors), Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Pontiac theft lock radio.

Requirements
The theft lock radio must be in "LOC" mode.

Procedure:
1. Turn the ignition ON (The radio should display "LOC")
2. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds
3. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. You now have fifteen seconds to complete the next step.
4. Press the AM/FM button
5. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.
6. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are form STEP 05
7. Call 1-800-537-5140
8. Press 1 then # (pound). You'll hear "Invalid Code, try again"
9. Press 139010 or 106010 or 206010 or 202107 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by *
10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then *
11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice
12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)
13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11
14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to "SEC". Your radio is now "un-locked" and usable.

• 106010
• 206010
• 202107

Troubleshooting
If you fail to enter the correct code eight times, the radio goes into INOP mode. You have to wait an hour with the ignnition on before the radio returns to LOC mode.

I used to use dealer codes from previous dealerships I worked at. However, those dealerships no longer exist.

There are some unethical, greedy dealerships out there that will charge one hour of shop labor to do this. I used to work at one. One of the dealerships I worked at even charged this hour in addition to the normal labor for replacing a battery or alternator. If a dealership wants to charge a fee to unlock a radio, RUN!

I don't know, I can see them charging a .3 (18 minutes) or something like that. But an hour? No way.

Most shops or repair services have a 1 hour minimum charge for anything they do. To me this should be included in the alternator or battery change charge, not charge separately.

^^ Really? I thought I recalled seeing dealer charges for less than an hour....warrantee stuff though - maybe that makes a difference.

wonderful post! I kinda busted my radio from doing something rude to my Impala and have to replace the radio... Glad to save some money for other car upgrades lol

Hi! I was very excited to see these instructions online because I just had my AC repaired and in the course of repairing it, the mechanic temporarily disconnected the electrical system and locked my radio. They weren't a dealership, so they didn't know how to reset it. They said I could take it to a dealership to unlock it, but I figure they will charge for that and the AC repair has wiped me out. But unfortunately I couldn't get the radio unlocked using these directions. Nothing happened at all during Step 2, so I couldn't go any further. Any ideas? Thanks.

You have to get your code before you lock up the radio. Only other option is to pull the radio and get the serial number and call it in for the code. I can't recall if the code is listed there as well. Been a while since I locked up and radio. I use a memory saver.

Hmmm, the source article was written in 2009. I betcha lunch for the next two weeks that these dealer codes will be called invalid when you call the 1-800 number. Has anyone else tried these instructions?
