Clicking When I Turn
When ever i turn a corner or the car in general i hear a loud clicking noise and it only happens when i hit the gas while turning. I assumed i needed an alignment but after i got the alignment it kept clicking when i turned. Any suggestions on what it might be.
BTW, Im in an 06 Impala SS

Sounds to me like you have either a cv joint (halfshaft/axle), going bad or it could also be a front wheel bearing. One of these is the culprit in 99% of the front clicking noises if it is a constant rate click when you are turning.

CV is about $70 from Oreilly, wheel hub is about $100 for the cheap one. You can visually inspect the half shafts from under the car with a jack. You'll know if it's blown. there'll be grease slung everywhere.

It may be the intermediate steering shaft. I too have an '06 SS and the steering clicked at low speeds like parking. I believe there is a TSB about this, apparently there are not greased enough from the factory and can "go dry" hence the clicking from metal on metal wear. I had it replaced under warranty. Same thing happened to our Aura too and was replaced under warranty.

Let us know what happens, I am curious to know. I have to remind myself on my next oil change to snot the ISS up a little with more grease just in case. While you're at the dealer you may want to address the power steering hose service bulletin, I have yet to schedule that one.

I would like to know what it is too, I have an 06 3.5 here at work that is doing the same thing. I thought it was the driver CV, I replaced it, it was in poor shape, but the click is still there. It doesn't seem to be the ISS either, not 100% on that one though. It isn't the wheel bearing, I was able to listen close enough to determine that it was somewhere in the region of the steering rack. I would sure like to have it figured out, like I'm sure you feel as well

Kinda, but it's a click. Higher frequency noise than a clunk. So yeah, you can kinda feel it. It sort of feels like there is a piece of plastic trying to stop the wheel from turning. It will only do it with the suspension loaded, jack the front end up and its gone. It reacts more to back and forth motion than anything else too.

Check your cradle bolts for proper torque and inspect your sway bar bushings and ball joints.

Amazing. The same thing is happening on the '72 Chevelle. Whenever I take a right-hand turn it starts clicking. More than "clicking" I can feel it - like someone is tapping pretty decent with a hammer on the control arm.

It sounds like the ISS to me. Mine went bad around 33k on my 07 SS. It seems to be a frequent problem. Mine could be felt just turning the wheel while parked. Service manager knew exactly what was the problem.
