I recently purchased the PAC OS-4 to use as the wiring harness for my 2007 Impala (LS) for my deck install. Everything seemed to be going smoothly untill we gave it the sound test. For whatever reason there is very low quality, quiet sound coming from the speakers. At max volume it is barely hearable.
The deck has NO amp hooked up to it so I was told to cut the RCA wires and just hook them directly to the deck for sound instead of going through the PAC box. Does this work? My vehicle does not have BOSE or Onstar so there is no stock amp or SWC to worry about.
The main goal was to have a quality aftermarket deck pump up the stock speakers abit, and an amp to push power to 1 12" sub.
This is my first post and second stero system install so forgive ignorance if at all possible .
what do ya know...I just got back from future shop...bought a whole sound system kit for my 06 ss...unfortunately they didnt have the harness kit, i need one cuz i got Onstar and BOSE. my guess for you problem would is to look into getting a capacator...I think your battery isnt liking all the equipment running through it....check this one out ==> http://www.carsound.com/artman2/publish/gottahaveit/Stinger_SWCKH44Total_Cap_Wiring_Kit_288.shtml
Im waiting for the harness kit to reach so i could install it...cant wait
The Audible Noise you have is called Amp whine comin from the speakers. The 1st thing i would do is get a Nice Stereo battery if you need some help finding 1 let me know i can get anythign you need stereo wise. The 2nd thing i would do is get an aftermarket alternator the last thing id get is a Capacitor.
Feel free to PM about any audio questions you may have
Hey fellas sorry about the long delay in a reply. My net went out for a couple days.
Here is the equipment list:
Pioneer DEH-P4100UB (Deck)
PAC OS-4 (Wiring harness)
Exile s500.1 1000W (Amp)
x1 12" Exile Sub Woofer (400w RMS - 800W Peak)
Like I said in my first post the idea was to use the amp to power only the sub in the back and the deck to power the stock speakers that came with the car untill I can replace those. As is right now I have the wires I need running to the trunk without the sub or amp. The ONLY thing hooked up to the car is the deck.
I was told by another source to bypass the PAC box for the audio wires.
RR Speaker: Purple - Purple/Black
RL Speaker: Green - Green/Black
FL Speaker: White - White/Black
FR Speaker: Grey - Grey/Black
Really basic system we are talking here. This is what I was told to hook up over the box and keep the rest going through it.
Thanks for your replies and sorry for the late answer >.<
Well just to keep everyone that read this thread in the loop, I did end up bipassing the PAC 4 box to run the speakers DIRECTLY to the deck instead of through the PAC.
This was a quick fix and the sound is perfect now.
I am still a little puzzled as to why newer model impalas require the PAC box at all? If you have a stock vehicle with no BOES or Onstar. This wiring harness, for those that dont know, costs around $180-$200 and all it does for me is retain the chimes and alarms. Kinda lame...
If anyone would like to know where to run wires to an amp, hook up a new deck, or replace the rear speakers I am willing to take pictures so you dont have to go by feel like I did.
Thank you for the reply posts!
