I don't consider myself an expert on these (nor many of the things around it). But I don't think it looks too dirty. OTOH, I've still cleaned some that looked cleaner than yours

Mostly 'cause I've read too many times how someone cleaned the throttle body and their car started running better

Mine never did

Probably some varnish buildup on the other side. I would definitely clean it.

Yea, It looks like it could be fairly black on the other side of the butterfly, I would clean it myself, just not sure on the proper way

Yes, that looks pretty dirty at the margins! It could be some shadowing from the lighting too tho'....
Make sure you use the right cleaner!!! Scrub the edges as clean as possible, so the butterfly has "free" movement.

Have not cleaned the tb on our 2012 yet, but sure it is not all that different from any other. Wife is getting 27.5 to 28.6 on the highway and the car is running like it did when we drove it off the lot, so no need at this point.

In this day and age would surprise me if you could NOT find a video detailing how to, might even be one posted somewhere here. Cannot say for certain if standard throttle body cleaner is the "gm approved" chemical without looking it up.

^ CRC Throttle Body/Air Intake Cleaner (red can) would be fine. Available at Wallyworld and parts stores.
