Poor fm reception

With the factory radio and the aftermarket radio I have installed the fm radio reception is crap compared to my Buick lesabre with a similar antenna and identical kenwood headunit. the problem is unaffected by defroster operation.

Have any of y'all had a similiar problem with reception?

I've never had good reception with stock or aftermarket radios in the Impala... No idea why. Typically, the FM reception is usually a little worse with aftermarket systems too (for whatever reason).

They do sell FM antenna amplifiers that go inline between the FM antenna jack and antenna wire - I've never tried one though (don't listen to FM anymore).

I just did a quick check, the antenna has no damage, the connector appears to be unshielded at the little button tab it uses to connect. I suspect signal leakage there perhaps.

Still running the factory unit in our 2012 and the fm reception is pretty consistent with other vehicles we have.
