00impala123's build thread

Alright, so time has come to start a build thread.

Here is the plan. I have a few mods ready to go on for this summer. The car will stay like it is (with those mods) and the interior being redone. In the meantime there will be a low mileage block on the engine stand in the garage.

Mods are going to be somewhere in the following area:
Gen V blower
Full Size IC
XP Cam
105 # springs
headers
intake
60lb injectors
e85 tune
3.2 pulley (gonna start with a 3.4 most likely until the tune gets dialed in, then work my way down to a 3.2 or 3.0)
Mild porting on heads
N* TB
wet nitrous kit
etc, etc...you get the idea. Basically it'll be a low 12's setup, eventually itll hit 11s.

Once the motor is built, gonna be getting a fully built trans from TEP (gonna try and get a hold of a 1" chain). When that's all ready to go, the current setup will be pulled, car will be painted while it is down (and all the exterior appearance mods will be done). Then drop in the motor, tune and go.

As far as this summer goes, my current mods are somewhere around here:

CAI
Headers
HV3
Ported Tb
zzp wires
bunch of other stuff (i'll update again later, can't think right now lol)

The couple mods that are going to be put on in the next 2 months and ran over summer:

Racetronix fuel pump rewire
(replace fuel filter)
Possibly gtp injectors (we'll see when tuning)
Rockers
90# springs

aaaaaaaand finally, the fun one:

Currently I have everything from the DRY ZEX kit, except the nozzle. Doesn't matter because I'm converting it to the WET kit before install. Got a guy going to give me the nozzle, 75hp jet, wet NMU, and all the fittings/lines for $100 bucks. Paid $200 for this kit, so 300 for a wet nitrous kit setup for a 75 shot, isn't bad. I'm going to see how it handles the 75 shot first, I'm hoping to be able to bump it up to 100, but I don't really feel like blowing my trans out since it was recently rebuild, but we'll see what happens lol

Thread will be update as I go, going to be a slow process from start to finish, but I'm excited to get the zex it on and see what times I run this summer.

Anyone in the midwest area, we will be planning a trip to chicagoland speedway (probably...if not another local strip) sometime this summer so anyone interested in going for a test and tune day, followed by a photoshoot and lunch/dinner PM me and we'll get a facebook group going or something.

Should be an interesting build. But, you better have that trans built bullet-proof if you want to hit 11's. Not to mention some grip on the front end. Sure it's possible but, not an easy or cheap task at that.

I honestly wouldn't run a 75hp shot on a stock trans or top end l36. Def asking for trouble if you ask me.

Its not asking for trouble at all. My trans isn't stock, its rebuilt. (not fully built but i threw some goodies in it)

75 shot is nothing, some of the grand prix guys have gotten 100 shots NO problem out of it. I'm not worried at all. Ive been around 3800s since 00 and I own a company that modifies cars .. so I kinda know what i'm doing haha

The built trans on the new motor will be COMPLETE..as I stated, I'm even going to try and get a hold of a 1 inch chain. None of this 7/8th shit. There's plenty of local guys around chicago hitting 11's and this build is def capable as long as I hook. It'll have some DRs on it for track days, figured I didn't have to mention that part though.

Where in michigan are you located? I go up to Holland sometimes, so if you are anywhere near there, when its built you can watch me run 11s haha

Currently I am making a throttle body spacer, next week I'm swapping PCM's and starting the tuning process.
