Cool Audio wire problem!!!

So I was hooking up my 2 12" JL W3's in the trunk of my 2002 base model impala and I got them wired up good to my alpine aftermarket deck and to the "AUX BATT POSS" I'm assuming this means Auxilery Battery Possitive so I hooked up my 8 gauge wire with 80A fuse to it and it powers my amp enough to turn it on and pump the subs barely, then when I turn up the subs via bass boost knob wired to the amp or via alpine aftermarket radio deck the amp goes into "protect" mode... The green power light goes out and the red protect light comes on... I've thought about it and I may need a stronger ground because mines a little ghetto and I didn't do the best job of taking off the paint, I was wondering if that could be causing the problem (the faulty ground)??? And anything else that could be causing the problem??? I need to get these hooked up by the weekend!!! ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Thanks.

An easy way to get a good ground is to pop the 2 clips on the rear seat and use one of the Seat Belt bolts to run a ground to the amp.

Did you do a big three upgrade before taking this on?
