I have an 04 impala, yesterday the windows rolled down, now all stopped working at same time. I saw in owners maual that a relay controls windows AND sunroof. the Sunroof still works. I dont know what else to check. Thanks

this may be a silly question, but are you trying to roll them up using the driver's master switch or have you actually gone to each door's switch too?

That's not a silly question because it would tell you if it's just the driver's door switch, which it very well could be, or something else.

That is a very common thing with people walking up to the parts counter trying to figure out why all of the windows wont work.

Sorry i havent gotten back sooner.......yes, all controls on all doors dont work. or should say didnt work. Heres the update. After removing relay and re inserting, the windows went back up, but stopped working again five minutes later, figured it couldnt be relay since power sun roof still works, noticed that when pushing on drivers side button I would hear a buzzing sound ,so i figured it being a bad switch, replaced switch and still same noise, put old switch back in and now windows are working "so far", went ahead and checked wiring in boot in door jam cause I heard that wire get broken, everything is OK there. So I dont dont know what else to do, just hope they dont stop working again when its supposed to rain I guess.

well that didnt last long. They stopped again. I dont know what else to check Switch is good ,relay good, dont see any broken wires in boot in door jam. Any Ideas

Well I figured it out. The wires in the boot in door jam go into another connecter in dash. As I pushed and pulled on wires in the connecter the windows wood start and stop with every tug. So its just not connected good there. I will have to get under dash and remove some things in my way to get my hands on connecter to get wires tight.

You might want to spray some contact cleaner (Caig Deoxit is best) in the connector.

My favorite one is where you take it to the dealer, they replace relays, the driver's door switch and two of the power window motors and it still doesn't work, and THEN they spray the contact cleaner in there and the problem is solved.

Hi everyone, just signed up here because I'm having the same problem with the bad connection. Power is intermittent when I moved the wire loom from the door. I'm working on getting a voltmeter to track it down, but was wondering if the OP figured out which wire it ended up being so I can fix this now while its apart. Thanks for the help in advance.
