Looking to get a 05 SS

Is there anything to look out for when getting one of these SS models?

I blew the engine ,the engine had a little over 171k ( coolant in the oil)and transmission(blew out 3rd and 4th gear when the transmission oil ran low) on my current impala and would like to upgrade to a 05ss... I did not see transmission oil on the ground so it must have been a internal leak

I did not even know it leaked out since I had the oil pan seal replaced (which failed again after 14k miles) as well as the intake manifold valve cover seals replaced as well at 150k ish which failed again so I did not bother further with them (and again at 167k per the recall) yes I was able to recover 300$ from GM

the person is asking 2900 for the car it has 145k miles on it he claims to be the original owner.

I still got the car and plan to get some of my money back parting it out the LS I got

Just the typical 3800 stuff check coolant elbows. Make sure the front spoiler is on a lot of people got them cracked or broken off so if its not there that may be a bargaining chip. Also make sure the cluster works GM had an issue that era with the stepper motors. Easy fix just something to look out for.

Check the trans fluid and ask if it has ever been serviced, or rebuilt for that matter. Listen at idle for a rattle and then hit the gas and see if it gets louder... This will most likely be supercharger nose bearings. When you test drive it take note of the suspension and how the car handles... At that mileage and age it is bound to need something. Biggest hurdle will be the transmission... I keep preaching these transmissions because it is a $2000 repair right on top of what you pay for the car.
