Bulb Replacement (Trunk and License Plate)

I can't find instructions in the manual to change these bulbs. I figure I need to remove the bolts in the license plate lights to get at them, but after that I'm kinda stuck. What do I need to do with these plastic things to get the bulbs out and replace them? I don't want to break them.

2003 Impala BTW, not sure if these bulbs are different on newer models.

Opps Wrong Post. Edited and removed Sorry Miss read post.

Ok I took out the first post. But to answer you question. The Bulbs one you take out the little holder you just twist off the cover like 1/2 turn then the bulb is like the same bulb that is in under the dash and back seat light over the rear doors. You just wiggle a little and pull the bulbs straight out. Put the new on in. put the Cover on lining up the marks in the cover with the bulb holder twist 1/2 turn back on. Mount with new bulb...

I would say don't go with a Cheap 194 bulb. I would try and find a LL aka Long Life bulb as not all 194 are made the same....

These lights are rectangle-shaped, I don't think I can twist them off...

OK guess I am lost?

Should take out 2 screws that leads to the Lic light. That is in the bumper facing up. oNce they are out you removed the light from the rear bumper and then it is only there with wiring. Between the harness and light cover comes apart! Maybe you should take a picture of what you have as I don't know maybe someone before you got the car has changed out the part that is on many GM products even past our Gen of IMpala still has the same type of removal because they are somewhat the same...

Here is a Picture of what it would look like outside the light cover. Sorry I didn't go out to my cars, It is pouring down rain or I would have.
I will try and get out there if there is a Break in the Down pour today. If you are able to I would take a Picture of what your talking about so someone may better understand what your working with...

I meant the trunk light, I was able to change out both though, apparently the trunk light slides to the left and comes out. The license plate light is bolted in and after some confusion on how to put it back on I realized the correct way was to put the bolts in first then slide it in and tighten.

Glad you got it sorted. I know that the LIC Light can look depending on the one installed like it can come out the front. Sadly that isn't the case and confuses some people..
