this weekend i sprayed my engine with gunk engine cleaner and hosed it off real good, the next day i drove it to the gas station. On the way to the station the check engine light came on and the car was hesitating a little, is it possible that a spark plug or something got wet and cause the light to come on.
man sorry to hear that. there was a thread on how to wash your engine the other day. go check it out and see if you failed to do any of the things that were posted.

That is possible or moisture in some other electrical component. Try running the engine at night and see if you notice any sparks from your plug wires jumping to the engine block. Mean time run your car by an auto parts store and have them pull the codes that turned on the light and post them here.
And there's always the possibility that it's something not even associated with the engine getting washed. The first thing I always check when the light comes on is how old the gas cap is. Might be that simple! :hope:
Opti is the flat distributer that is behind the water pump on the bottom front of the motor. It is the unit that all the spark plug wires connect to.
It has a vent tube that connects to the air intake boot. Blue elbow piece in the intake boot. If water gets into the tube and reaches the opti spark, it can cause irregular arching, corrosion, burning in the opti unit itself.
You need to get to a parts store and have the codes read for your check engine light. Post them up here and someone can tell you what it relates to. Or do a google search on the code.
Just had my spark plugs replaced and I'm still in the same predicament as was before. I had a mechanic check my engine and he saw my 1st and 2nd cylinders were misfiring. My check engine light is still on and my car is still stalling and bucking when getting to 2nd gear and beyond. It was good I got the plugs changed, but what could be the issue?
Also do shops charge to run a diagnostic for the check engine?
