When did GM introduced roller lifters in the Chevy caprice 305?

Is a 1986 / 305 will last as long as a 1988 that has roller lifters in it wili it make that much of a difference for everyday use durability wise. What kind of lifters were in the 305 before the rollers came thx

rollers are an aftermarket addition. your stock engine should last you 300,000 miles. Hydraulic lifters came from the factory, saves the headache of adjusting valves!

Dont worry about it. If you get solid lifters you will be under the hood every 3000 miles adjusting valves. keep the hydraulic ones they`ll work fine.

I got 325,000 miles from my 1971 Chevy before I needed a new motor! (yes I said SEVENTY-one)
