Cool The RoadMonster has been showing well!

Hey Guys.

I haven't been here in awhile.

I have been working on the RoadMonster, and attending
shows and cruise-ins all Summer.

(I don't really have much forum time in the Summer)

Anyway, I have been really working on improving the engine bay on the RoadMonster, as far as looks. Eye Candy, if you will

So far this year, the RoadMonster has won the following awards:

"Best Engine" Dallas Rotary "A Day in the Park" Car Show. July 27, 2008.

"Best Full Size Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac". All Chevy / GM Show. July 13, 2008.

"Dare to be Different" Les Schwab "Best of the Northwest" Show. July 12, 2008.
.
"Best of 1980-2008" Dallas Cruisers Traffic Jam / Show & Shine. June 21, 2008.

"Showoff of the Week" CarDomain.com. January 7, 2008.

I am VERY proud of the last win, the Best Engine Award. It was a big show, of about 500 cars. To win for best engine was....well, amazing!

I am replacing every nut, bolt, & washer with polished stainless steel parts.

I did some already, along with misc other polished stainless parts.

Just thought I'd check in with you all and let you know where I've been, and what I am up to.

This week, I will be finishing most of the hardware replacement.

Have a great summer guys!

Stewart

Awesome news! I always like to hear about reactions to your car, I'm sure lots of people just drool when they see the engine bay. It's nice to know you're still ticking, hows the turbo set up going?

Well Richard, funny you should ask...

As you know, I've been going to a lot of car shows this summer.

The RM has been VERY well received.

She has won five times out of seven shows so far this season...

When she won "Best Engine", well, I had to rethink the whole turbo plan.

The reason is that I'd lose the RAISS Ram Air Intake, the ceramic coated twin filter "Y" pipe, etc.

I have worked very hard on this car for the past five years, and now that I have her looking almost like I dreamed she could look, I find myself not wanting to change the look of the engine bay too much.

It all matches the theme I planned years ago.

SO....

I'm back to planning a heads & cam package from Advanced Induction.

For those of you who don't know who AI is, you have to see their site.

There are a lot of F and B Body guys running some amazing times with AI packages:

http://www.advancedinduction.com/AiHome.htm

The "LT1 Results" page is especially interesting.

Also, since Karl Ellwein uses AI for his engines, I am sold.

Those of you that frequent the other Impala forums already know about AI, and Dwayne's Caprice running 11's full weight, on a stock bottom end with over 100K on it, etc...

So, that's the plan. Get the HP & Torque numbers from a heads and cam package instead of forced induction.

Keep the engine bay the same (with a few upgrades from time to time of course )

Thanks again for all the kind words Richard.

Stewart, did you notice in the Garage that your car and mine (in that order) are still the most viewed cars there?

Yours undoubtfully because of how well done your work is.

Mine I guess is that no else can believe that one of its ventage is still running and with its low mileage. Of course that is only my guess.

Can the AI setup pull the same HP and torque as the turbo could? I knew you were going for looks, but courious about how much power you can pull with out the turbos.

I think I can easily get just over 400 rwhp with their heads / cam package,
on an otherwise stock bottom end.

That'll be sufficient.

For now

I still cant help but wonder how it would look with red steelys, white walls, and baby moons.

I seriously am facinated by your level of detail you have put into your car stewart.
