Impala 2010

Daughters car (and mine). Other driver cited for failure to yield right of way.
Approx 45 MPH hit. Airbags blew. Daughter said liquids all over pavement.
2010 Hyunda Accent.
Do you think ins will total or repair? I will hold no answers responsible.

I would say unless there's frame damage, it will be repaired.

Unibody design. The body panels are the frame. So just replace the screwed up panels.

My fiancée was in a wreck a couple years ago that resulted in nearly the same amount of damage. 2007 cobalt. It was repaired. You may be safe, although it is a close call. The damage to her cobalt was about 5 grand. So look up the blue book, and then subtract 20-30 percent from the retail. That is typically where insurance places their cutoff to total a car versus fix it. Say it was Worth 10k retail. Insurance will fix it up to probably 7k worth of damage. If it exceeds that number, it is a write-off.

Sorry. Yes. Everyone OK. Small burn on hand from airbag.
Found out today other driver does not have insurance.
My insurance will take care of it, and sent someone to look at car.
Insurance adjuster looked at car and said damage too close to tell, car needs to go to body shop to determine if it is worth fixing.
Car towed to body shop.

It was over Wed. 15 Aug.
Body shop said too correct damage would be just over $9,400.00.
Insurance said they would total the car.
Insurance gave me a check.
I think I was treated fair and right.

I bought it in March 2012 with an asking price of 12,999.
I don't know what "full market value" is but I can find 2011 models for right around 12,999 on the Internet.
I would like to think it makes a difference but don't know for sure. I have had the same auto insurance company since 1979.

I was worried how it would turn out. I did not think they would give me that much for the car. I also worried that if they repaired it that it would not be worth much on trade due to being in a major accident.
Anyway not a good way for Suzie college to start out her first year after graduating.
I am glad it turned out the way it did.
