Question Fuel smell ??

I have a 2011 3.5L FF, and when I come off the highway, go into my garage, get out and the uleaded rotten egg smell is quite strong... I took to dealer, they did o2 sensor checkes and other seal checks and could not find anything wrong. tests came back within normal. Does anyone else have this issue or had this issue and if so, What the heck is it ??? I use either Marathon, BP, or Shell regular gas, Use Pennzoil Platinum oil, it is a Dexos 1 oil . Air filter has been changed. Only thing I haven't completed is a fuel filter change. 31K on car, not sure if fuel filter changed as I have only had car for about 2 months.

Rotten egg smell, I thought, was the cat. converter. Why are you thinking fuel?

Question

That is the smell emitted by the unleaded fuel. Not sure what or where this may be coming from. I did consider the Converter may be bad, no loss of power or fuel mileage. Did not know if this was something that would eventually work itself out of if I would need to look into a new converter ?

Many times on first start-up in the morning, the exhaust may smell like "rotten eggs". This is due to a rich fuel condition with a cold engine. However, as the engine warms up, this smell should go away. If it does not, converter damage could possibly follow with extended driving.
All converters are required to have a warranty under EPA law. I am not sure of the exact law however.
I think its, for the O.E.manufacturer part - 8yr/80,000 miles. Someone may correct me if I am wrong.

Question

Thanks everyone for the help. Is there any type of testing that I could have done to see if this is in fact the converter. You are right, I do get a smell when first starting up but wasn't too concerned with that. It's the one after it has been driven at highway speeds that concerns me. Thanks again.

Hi again! It looks like you've already received some great feedback on the subject, so I just wanted to let you know I'm also available if you still have lingering questions about part warranties, etc. DM anytime with additional info (name/address/VIN), and I'd be happy to do some research for you!

First, there is no fuel filter, so don't worry about replacing it. Have the dealer check out the fuel pump, you didn't mention a check engine light, but I had one where the pump was over pressurizing and causing a rich condition, it's under warranty still, so it can't hurt.
