Please Help....Part Two!

o.k.....for the past couple of months the 96 Impala will only start with the remote start. And....when I hit the remote start button, it does not start on first try....always starts on second (I don't have to hit remote start button second time...it automatically tries again after about 15-30 seconds). When I try to start with key in ignition, engine just turns over but doesn't fire up??????

When you try it with the key do you try it more than once?

Yes. I tried several times with the key...just keeps cranking and nothing else. I also wanted to note in original post that once car is started it runs great - no hesitation or misfiring. Also, alt and battery both replaced fall of last year.

I've only had a few problems with her in the 7 years I've had her but I'm in Long Island and it seems that every mechanic I've ever taken her to either tries to rip me off or hasn't got a clue. I learned my lesson a couple of times and always try to diagnose and/or get parts beforehand so I can just tell them what I want done.

Wait!!!!!!!!!

I left out one key piece of information in my original post on this problem. This ONLY occurs when she's cold. Once I start her....I can keep going all day long with her and shut her down and start her WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, no problems. Once she sits and gets cold - problem starts all over.

i was going to say i guarantee its a passkey/security problem but the temperature thing throws that off a little i'm still saying its passkey related though, do you know what the remote start does to go around the security? could possibly have its own computer to tell passkey its ok to go but may not engage with the key until after its been started? i've never liked remote starts.
