Hi I am new to the site and have read alot of post about my problem, most of the things they say to try i have tried. The temp gauge on my car quits and so does the AC. If i disconnect the neg post and a small ground wire behind the drives side head light the problem will go away for a day or so. My dad read somewhere the if you do that plus remove some of the big fuses on the brain it will be a better fix. We are just not sure with fuses to remove. Chevy wanted me to change it ICP but the gauge works i think the problem is in the computer brain. The only thing besides the fuses that i have not done is flush the radiator, i read on here where the thermostat may "airlock". The thermostat works fine cause when the gauge is working i can see the car heat and cool like it suppose to. When the temp gauge quits so does the AC, so how could it not be a computer problem. Please help!!.......cypressknee

Try cleaning the negative battery cable that is bolted to the engine. If the temp sensor is fine and the gage is fine then another item that can be the problem is the wire between the gage and sensor.
Or it may be a fault in the BCM (Body Control Module) and it may need replacement.

after doing some major digging on the net i ran across a trick a guy had done i tried it and so far i works doesn't take long and won't cost anything
OK, everyone I think you should jump on the bandwagon of (Mike in Indys) suggestion even though I am a Saints fan, the Colt has a remedy. 1. DISCONNECT YOUR NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. 2. UNPLUG YOUR PCM FUSES LOCATED UNDER HOOD ON PASSENGER SIDE TOP FUSE BOX INSIDE TOP LEFT TWO BIG FUSES. 3. THIS IS AN EXTRA MEASURE. IF YOU HAVE AN 01 IMPALA PULL THE RED 2 #10 FUSES (LOCATED ON DRIVER SIDE TO THE LEFT OF YOUR LIGHT SWITCH ON SIDE. 4. DISCONNECT GROUND WIRE LOCATED UNDER HOOD ALSO ON DRIVER SIDE JUST ABOVE HEADLIGHT. YOU CAN SAND IT DOWN OR USE A SMALL WIRE BRUSH CLEAN CONNECTIONS AND SCREW/WASHER. 5. WAIT APPROX 10-15 MINUTES 6. RECONNECT EVERYTHING IN REVERSE ORDER STEP 5 TO1(LAST TO FIRST). 7. START CAR AND LEAVE RUNNING FOR A FEW MINUTES ( YOUR GAUGE SHOULD BEGAN TO ADJUST AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOULD NOT BE ON. 8. TURN OFF CAR.(FAN/BLOWER SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS TO MIKE IN INDY YOU'LL SOON BE RIDING WORRY FREE. I WILL FOLLOW UP IN A FEW WEEKS. IT TOOK ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES TOPS AND ZERO DOLLORS OUT OF POCKET.
