2003 Impala Power Steering

My 2003 Impala(3800 V6) makes a very slight whining noise when I turn the steering wheel, so I would like to check the power steering fluid. When I pop the hood I can't see the where the power steering resevoir, so for starters where the hell is it? ANd is this something that's relatively easy to work on or should I be taking it into the shop and letting a mechanic look at it? Thanks.

The power steering fluid reservoir is below the alternator on a 3800 engine.
Check the power sterring hoses, hose connections, pump and rack and pinion for any leaks.

My 2000 LS needs to have the power steering filled every 3 months at this point. No one I've taken it to can find a leak. One mechanic that works on 00-05 Impalas for the Police said it's a manufacturing issue.

Anyway like Stephen said the power steering fluid reservoir is below the alternator (who the hell thought of that!). Unless you have skinny arms and small hands you'll have to take off the stabalizer bar that goes across the engine to get to it.

As I stated I have to change mine every 3 months and yes, it is a pain in the ass!
