I am getting this same problem. A relative gave me a 2000 Impala and the air conditioner worked fine for them last summer. The heat worked for me during the winter, but now that it's hot I tried using the AC and it is only blowing out of the passenger side. It's pretty cold, but the only way to get cold air is to turn it on max (recirculate) in the shade and eventually the driver's side will start to blow cold air--I assume cause the air in the car got cold, not because it's able to blow cold air.

If it works like the older cars it could be a vac hose. When you switch the mode switch from heat to ac to max etc. small doors direct the flow to the different vents. These are operated by vac. hoses. The newer ones may be electrical.

my car was kinda like that. i have a 2000 impala ls. 87000 miles on it. well, my a/c was barely workin. basically it wasnt workin, but the a/c on the passenger side was much colder than the driver side. i went to the junkyard yesterday and pulled a air compressor from a 2000 gran prix and just installed it this morning. everything works great now. thats worth a shot if you havent found a fix yet.

Unhappy help!

Alright folks so I am having a similar problem.

I have a 2008 Impala LT and last year I replace the actuator on the passenger side in the glove box and now I have a loud ticking noise on the driver side. I have both of the temperature controls on cold but only the passenger side is blowing cold air. The drivers side is blowing hot air.

Any solutions?

Sounds like the other blend door quit working on you. There is like 4 of them in the car.

Try searching blend door problems and you'll find the informative threads.
