trunk wont open

01 impala when i got the car used it did not have a key for the trunk and the fob does not work been using the trunk pop in the car.now for the last 2 weeks it wont open. the motor spins but will not release the trunk. any suggestions

Do any strange, rotting flesh type odors come from the trunk? lol

Sounds like maybe the lock is stuck. IDK how to fix that, though.

if all the keys are original you can ask at the dealer to sell you a copy. (at least thats what i did)

^^If you have the OEM key for ignition, that's the same as the trunk.

thats what i originally thought but odd because my key goes in the trunk but does not turn maybe tumblers seized?

My guess is that at some point the trunk lock was changed......Does the ignition key work in the driver's door?

The lock was probably changed, then. Try going to the dealer and getting one that fits. Good luck!
