2001 Chevy Impala Dash Light & CD player Problem?

Interior problem
2001 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles
Good Afternoon,
The interior lights don't work. When driving at night, I can's even see how fast I'm going. This has been going on for a few weeks. Now, my CD player no longer works. It says CHECK CD.

I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. The brightness dial on the lights on/off 'switch' doesn't do anything either.

Where to go from here? How can I fix it. I'm sure it must be some stupid little thing that's fairly easy to fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i would say just a wiring problem or a short somewhere in the harness.
