i have a 2004 ls with the stock radio. it has a button that says cd/aux on it, but no cable or jack. im going to make some CDs so it isnt a big deal, but i would like to be able to plug my cellphone in and play my music.

is there something i have to connect somewhere or whats the deal? somebody said maybe theres a jack in the back of the radio but i dont want to pull that dashboard out unless i know for sure. why would they put it in the back anyway? :WTF:

There is no Aux input for this generation of Impala. Do you have the cassette deck option?

It might be for a trunk-mounted CD changer or something like that.... Maybe there is some sort of input on the back for another piece of equipment - might be a proprietary connection though.

Does anyone know if that is the case? Can a trunk-mounted CD changed be connected to these head-units? It does seem kind of strange to have an Aux button if there is no aux connectivity...

Auxiliary just means additional support so in this case a cd is just additional audio support.. It's an ambiguity. For instance if you had the cassette and cd option the tape deck button would read tape aux.. The cd button obviously says cd aux.

I realize this is an old thread but for future searchers I'll throw this in. There IS an auxiliary jack on the back of most of the 2000 - 2005 radios, the RDS radios for certain. It is the smaller plug to the passenger side of the main harness connector. My loaded 2001 base model had the CD/Cassette/AM-FM RDS head unit and a harness plugged into the output that ran to the trunk and was folded up and taped over on the passenger side behind the liner. This was for a remote CD changer, it wasn't a "factory" installed option that I have ever seen but it WAS a dealer installed option. It was originally my understanding that after 2002 or so the harness to the trunk was omitted as very few people opted for the remote changer in Impalas however the AM-FM/CD non-RDS radio in my '03 has the connector as well as the harness. So....? :dontknow:

The wiring schematics for remote input devices are shown on pages 8-444 and 8-445 of the Helms service manual and the Remote CD changer is referenced on 8-495 and 8-496. At the bottom of 8-481 it states that the remote CD changer was a dealer installed option and to refer to the changer manufacturers instructions for the replacement procedure. Hope this answers some questions for someone.

Moved the radio from my '01 to my '03 and got it unlocked tonight. When I swapped I also added an Auxiliary Input Adapter that plugs into the previously mentioned remote CD plug in the back of the radio. Tried it with an old Creative Mp3 player and it works great!

Can you share some pictures how its wired, i found a pin out of the small connector and it shows a left right and common for audio input, but do i havent tried it out, i am wondering how would it work?
Do i press the cd/aux button and the radio will detect the sound??

Any ideas if this can be done?

Thanks

We have a 2000 Chevy Suburban. We have a "CD Aux" button and the Aux goes to the cassette tape player and the CD goes to the CD player. I'm looking on this thread because we're buying another Suburban with a "CD Aux" button but there's only a CD button and I'm wondering if there's an Aux port hidden somewhere or if we can attach an Aux cable to the back of the radio.
