radio has cd/aux button, but no aux jack or cable

i have a 2004 ls with the stock radio. it has a button that says cd/aux on it, but no cable or jack. im going to make some CDs so it isnt a big deal, but i would like to be able to plug my cellphone in and play my music.

is there something i have to connect somewhere or whats the deal? somebody said maybe theres a jack in the back of the radio but i dont want to pull that dashboard out unless i know for sure. why would they put it in the back anyway?

There is no Aux input for this generation of Impala. Do you have the cassette deck option?

2004 Impala LS - Spiral Grey Metallic - Purchased at 93k miles
Features:
152k miles as of 3/2015
Engine swap 40k miles ago - Swap had 5k miles on it.
TransGo Shift Kit + Dex VI + Wix filter + New GM pan + AC Delco Gasket as of 2/2015.
New Rack and Pinion.
New Radiator (Lifetime Warranty) + Coolant flush every summer.
Firestone Lifetime Alignment.

i dont have a cassette deck but it does have the aux button so i dont understand why they would put the button if there is no aux input. thats odd.

It might be for a trunk-mounted CD changer or something like that.... Maybe there is some sort of input on the back for another piece of equipment - might be a proprietary connection though.

Does anyone know if that is the case? Can a trunk-mounted CD changed be connected to these head-units? It does seem kind of strange to have an Aux button if there is no aux connectivity...

Auxiliary just means additional support so in this case a cd is just additional audio support.. It's an ambiguity. For instance if you had the cassette and cd option the tape deck button would read tape aux.. The cd button obviously says cd aux.

I don't really buy this explanation. They already said "CD" so they don't need to say "AUX" besides that the term is normally used for an exterior audio source.

According to your signature you have an 03 base, Does your car come with a CD AUX button? If you doubt the explanation then tell me where your aux port is. I had an 04 LS I will tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt I had a CD AUX button and no aux port and it was never an option on the car.

I'm not disagreeing that it doesn't have an aux port I'm just disagreeing with the 'need' to say "CD AUX" when "CD" is all that needed to be printed there. It implies that there's an external audio port when there isn't.

Inspired by this thread, I looked in my 02 owner's manual. For the radio with CD, it says "CD AUX". For the radio with cassette player, it says "TAPE AUX". But for my combo CD/cassette, it says "TAPE CD".

FWIW, attached is a doc I culled from the web that describes how to add an aux input to a factory radio. HTH.
